Do You Understand Golf Club Swing Weight

Do You Understand Golf Club Swing Weight

Golf Clubs

Golf club swing weight. Have you heard that term before?

A rather effective method of improving the golf swing is by adding extra weight to the club and then going through the motions of swinging.

This sort of exercise has many advantages apart from the fact that it is very golf specific and works on building the exact muscles you use during a golf swing or drive.

The other reason why extra weight on the club dramatically improves any golf swing is because the whole swing movement usually feels very unnatural to the body. You can easily tell this from the body violently resists it, making the golf swing one of the most difficult things to master in the golf game.

The extra weight on the golf club even as you practice the swing, quickly builds up and conditions the muscles involved so that the next time you do a golf swing, it feels much more natural. The result is that you will be able to execute a much better drive.

The best way of achieving extra weight on a club is by using a weighted club. A weighted club has several advantages. The one that probably comes to mind first is its portable nature. It can be carried around everywhere.

You have seen those movies where the executive is practicing their golf swing even while in a serious meeting discussing weighty issues with juniors.

Maybe this is a little too exaggerated but the point is that with such a mobile piece of useful golf equipment, there is no limit to where or when you can practice your swing with it. Either in the comfort of your home or office.

This can only help you see the dramatic results much faster as you go about exercising and conditioning your golf-swing-specific muscles by practicing a golf swing with some extra weight on the club.

The Best Golf Backswing Tips - How to Properly Perform the Technique to Get Better Golf Swing

The Best Golf Backswing Tips - How to Properly Perform the Technique to Get Better Golf Swing

Golf Clubs

Learning how to properly perform a golf backswing will definitely lead to a better golf swing. Moreover, once you learn how to properly perform this technique you will be able to execute more accurate and longer shots. Take a look at these golf backswing tips, which will show you how to properly perform the technique.

The first tip is to position your body so that your feet are shoulder width apart. When you position your body like this you will be able to easily shift your weight as you swing the golf club. One important tip is to bend your knees slightly and hold the club with a loose grip.

An important golf backswing tip is to bring the golf club back using a smooth an even curve. Also you need to make sure you keep the club head low to the ground. Another important tip is make sure you maintain a slow and steady path allowing your weight to move from your front foot to your back.

The next step to perform a proper golf backswing is to swing the club backwards until the club reaches a horizontal line with the ground. This will allow your left knee to move toward your right knee keeping your body in balance. Make sure the club head is in a 90% angle to the ground.

An important tip is to try and keep your position as you continue the backward motion. This will allow you to turn your shoulders until the left shoulder takes the place of where your right shoulder used to be before you slanted your backswing. Now allow your hips ot turn along with the shoulders as the head of the club comes upward. These golf backswing tips will definitely help you properly perform a backswing.

Irons have the widest range of use of any set of clubs. An iron is the most versatile club in your bag. And you cant get close to the hole without one. Yet the average golfer never takes the time to improve his iron play. Thats why hes average. Go to any driving range and youll see what Im talking about: Guys trying to knock the ball into the next county with drivers that look like upside down mailboxes. Because the three things most golfers care about these days are distance...distance...and more distance. But what good is being able to belt the ball 300 yards if it takes you three more shots to hit the green? Having a decent drive is important, of course. But youve got to be able to follow up your drives with solid iron play. That is, if you want to be able to hit your approaches shots a whole lot closer to the pin.

Waterlefe Golf and River Club

Waterlefe Golf and River Club

Golf Clubs

Waterlefe Golf and River Club is a gated golf community located northwest of Bradenton Florida. Designed by Ted McAnlis, this 18-hole, championship course spans 6,908 yards on fairways spread throughout the conservation areas and along side the Manatee River. As well as a championship course, Waterlefe also features a wet driving range where you drive floating golf balls into one of the lakes on the community, this certainly provides an entertaining way to practice your swing!

The River Club features exceptional dining, banquet facilities, fitness room, swimming pool and tiki bar. The Pointe is a relaxing retreat where residents can enjoy a picnic along the scenic Manatee River. The lookout tower at the Pointe provides some spectacular views of the surrounding area and far down the Manatee River. For the river craft enthusiast you'll definitely want to check out the marina and private boat docks. Fifty-nine slips line the Manatee River providing access to some of the best fishing opportunities in this estuary. The Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay is accessible from the marina but you better plan a day of it, Waterlefe is 15 miles inland!

Membership initiation fees have been temporarily waived and now you can join Waterlefe for the cost of the monthly dues. This makes joining the Waterlefe Golf Club too good of a deal to pass up if you are looking for a new course to advance your golf skills.

The real estate in the community is extremely diverse and unique for the area. Builders from around the country have come to Waterlefe during its construction and have created properties that break the Florida mold. An eclectic mix of Mediterranean and California designs mixed together to create some very interesting properties. Add this to the waterfront theme of stone and wood bridges intermixed within the neighborhood and you have a community reminiscent of a modern English waterfront hamlet or a quiet Venetian village along the Adriatic Sea.

Perhaps this is why Waterlefe attracts more English and European residents of any other golf community in the Sarasota-Manatee area. A stroll through the neighborhood on a comfortable December evening could confuse you and make you think you are living across the pond when you hear all the cheerful British accents. Don't be so surprised to be invited to a community BBQ and be offered some authentic Yorkshire pudding!

Home prices in Waterlefe begin at 0,000 for a townhouse style home with a garage to nearly million for a home in the higher end gated enclave. Waterlefe homes for sale are so diverse that you really need to look at the current listings to appreciate the diversity of this community.

Golf Clubs For the Beginner Or Novice Golfer

Golf Clubs For the Beginner Or Novice Golfer

Golf Clubs

Do not buy a brand new set of golf clubs, yet

It is a good idea not to go out and buy a new set of golf clubs when you first take up the sport. Like anything one takes up that may have a chance of becoming a five minute wonder, it is a good idea to test the ground with the minimum of expense, in fact for free, if at all possible. The last thing you should do is go out and spend a silly amount of money on brand new equipment, only to give up and be left with another item taking up space in the loft, garage, or shed.

Beg, borrow, but don't steel !!

Before buying your first set of clubs, you should borrow or hire them, thus getting a feel of the different brands out there, as well as building up your skill and forming your own style of play. How you play will significantly influence the choice of clubs (brands, construction) that will suit you. Most golf clubs have the facility to hire out clubs and other golf equipment, in fact I myself have never come across a club that didn't, but you never know.

First set, should be a beginners set

Until you get to any decent degree of proficiency with the sport, the clubs you will use the most will be the number 3, 5, 7 and 9 irons, a 1, 5 or 7 club and of course a putter. With this in mind make sure the set of golf clubs you acquire (borrow/hire/buy) contains these clubs, then you will be ready to play.

Maxed to the 14

The maximum number of clubs a golfer is allowed to carry on a course is 14, but as a novice most of them would not be used, therefore stick with the ones mentioned above.

When length matters

When you select the golf clubs you will use, whether borrowed. Hired, or bought, you must check that they are the right length for you. Stance is critical, and you should be sure to get help if you are not confident about how to check this.

This is the game for me

Once you have been playing for a good while and have an idea of what you want from your clubs, then that is the time to get a brand new set that suits you and your style of play. This is the time to head to a decent shop. Your golfing colleagues or the people at your regular golfing haunt will be your best bet for advice on where to go.

The end is nigh

I hope this article has been of some use to you. I have and will produce more articles in good time. Click on this link below, and head to the bottom of the subsequent page for other links to articles written by myself.

Collectible Golf Clubs

Collectible Golf Clubs

Golf Clubs

Becoming a successful golf club collector is not as easy as it sounds. There is a lot to know about golf clubs, golf history, and star golfers before you start buying clubs. So, before you start bidding for clubs on eBay, or spending thousands of dollars on so called "collectible golf clubs" at sports memorabilia stores you need to know what you should look for.

The first step that you need to take when starting a golf club collection is to pick up some reference books. These books should include a pricing guide, a history book of golf, and a book designed for golf club collectors. One book that you may find particularly useful is Antique Golf Collectibles, A Price and Reference Guide by Chuck Furjanic. This book covers golf club valuation, golf club identification, and other topics that collectors need to know about.

The second step that you need to take when starting a golf club collection is to review your reference materials and become familiar with collectible clubs. This will not only help you to identify golf memorabilia and clubs that are worth collecting, but it will also help you to spot deals and rip offs. Also your bargaining position will strengthen the more knowledgeable you are about golf memorabilia and the game of golf in general.

Next you will want to decide on what category of golf clubs you want to focus your collection on. There are wooden shafted, steel shafted, and antique golf clubs. Each of these golf club categories has its own set of valuation criteria. By selecting a single category to focus your collection on you will be reducing how much research you will have to conduct, and you will be reducing how much information you will have to remember.

Finally start shopping. Browsing through the stock of golf memorabilia at local sports memorabilia stores is a good thing to do on a regular basis. This way if something good comes in you will be one of the first people to know about it. You should also develop a working relationship with the store owner. Usually if you have a good relationship with a memorabilia store owner you will be offered a better deal on the items that you want because of that long-term relationship. Other shopping options that you may want to try out include: estate sales, government and police auctions, and to garage sales. All of these activities can lead you to finding hard to find items.

Grooves in Golf Clubs - Will You Be Affected by the New Rules?

Grooves in Golf Clubs - Will You Be Affected by the New Rules?

Golf Clubs

Many of you may have heard about the change in the rules relating to grooves in golf clubs which comes into effect on 1st January 2010, but do you know whether or not you will be affected? This short article will explain.

Extensive research was carried out by the R & A and the USGA which showed that the modern "V" groove configuration can result in golfers generating the same amount of spin from the rough as from the fairway.

In an attempt to place a premium on accuracy by making shots more difficult from the rough, the two governing bodies are to limit groove volume and groove edge sharpness on all clubs excluding drivers and putters with a loft greater than or equal to 25 degrees. As a general rule, therefore, this will apply to a 5 iron and above. All existing limitations on grooves and face roughness will remain.

The new rules will apply to all new models of clubs manufactured on or after 1st January 2010 although models existing at that date will still be allowed to be manufactured until the end of 2010.

This begs the question, "won't Tour Pros just stick with models manufactured before 1st January 2010?" Unfortunately for them, the R & A and USGA are far too 'cute' for that because as from that date they will make it a "Condition of Competition" at the top professional level that they use clubs manufactured under the new rules.

But what about you and me? Well, you'll be pleased to know there's not too much for us to worry about unless you are a pro or top amateur where the new rules will be introduced in stages. Models existing at 31st December 2009 and manufactured any time until 31st December 2010, which meet the current regulations, will continue to conform until at least 2024 and even then the time frame may be extended when the governing bodies review it in 2020.

So, no need to worry about having to fork out another small fortune on 1st January 2010 for a conforming set of irons but be aware that if your cash is burning a hole in your pocket and you take a fancy to that shiny new model after then, just double-check that those irons do conform!

Finding Discount Golf Clubs

Of course, to access discount golf clubs, it is important that you know exactly where to find them. There are many stores in the market, but not all of them will offer discount golf clubs. Take the tips below to know where to find your discount golf clubs.

1. Discount Sports Shops

Thus, the first thing you need to do is to look for shops and stores that focus on selling discounted sporting goods. Some stores will immediately identify themselves through their business name as a discount shop. Generally, the store must have an ambience similar to a warehouse.

You may also find yourself being required to sign up first on their members list before you can purchase any of the discount goods. This may take some time as you fill out the requirements. However, once you start looking around at the equipment and discount golf clubs, you will realize that good price is worth all the effort.

2. Off-Season Timing

Discount golf clubs are also available in most sports shops during off-season. Buying off-season can get you good discounts, as much as 50 percent off. Shops also conduct sales for all their merchandise. All you need to do is to know the right timing so that your trip to the shop will be fruitful.

You can also watch out for some programs or promotions implemented in some sports shops. It is possible to find trade-in promos. You can trade-in some of your stuff for a good golf club. Of course, after this promo, you can also expect that the shop will have some items for sale like a discount golf club.

3. Estate Sale

Many golf enthusiasts also watch out for estate sales where items can be auctioned off at very affordable prices. Estate sales are often conducted when there is a special event being celebrated. You will find golf clubs and other golf equipment at a good discounted price. Thus, be sure to always on the lookout for announcements. An estate sale may be approaching. You have to be in the know.

4. Buying from Authorized Clones

There are some golf club brands that have authorized clones. These are not pirated. The companies are authorized by the manufacturers to sell equipment using the components under the brand name. Thus, the material is still from the branded manufacturer. You can get a good discount from these kinds of golf clubs.

5. Internet Retailers

If you want to expand your options further in finding the right discount golf club, then you can explore internet retailers online. Online retailers tend to give a good selection for discount golf clubs. The items sold here are the golf clubs released the past season, but you can be sure that you are the first owner of the discount golf club.

You can also explore the auction sites. Internet bidding sites are very popular nowadays. If you will just take your time to surf through the site, you can find a discount golf club and purchase it a considerable mark down.

There is also some sort of a flea market section in the bidding sites. This is another venue for you to find discounted items. Just be sure to read on ahead for the models displayed on the web site. This way, you can read on the details and specifications of the golf club before you make a purchase.

Conclusion

Get the best deals for your golfing equipment by finding the right place to get your discount golf clubs. This is your way to enjoy golfing even with your limited budget.

Wooden Golf Clubs of the Late 1800's

Wooden Golf Clubs of the Late 1800's

Golf Clubs

In the Golfer's Handbook, published in 1881, the author, Robert Forgan, described the clubs, dividing the clubs into two categories: wooden clubs and iron clubs. The sub categories under the wooden clubs included drivers, spoons, and putters.

The wooden clubs were employed when the ball was in open ground where there was a good chance of getting it well away and with little fear of breakage. That was the general rule but several of the stronger clubs were used in more difficult situations.

Drivers were the longest and most delicately constructed, and yet the most powerful from a "swiping" point of view. They derive their name form being the clubs used to drive the ball when the longest possible stroke was required. The handle of a full-sized driver measured 3 feet 7 inches from the grip to its junction with the head, in order to give it the proper spring or degree of suppleness. The head weighed 7 or 8 ounces and had a face that was straight and almost perpendicular. Two types of wooden drivers were used.

The "play-club" was used for "swiping off the tee," but could be used when the ball was in a "good lie", and a full stroke was required. By design the club did not "sky" the ball too much so as to get the greatest possible distance. This is the long driver of the time. The "grassed driver" was used on the longest holes and differed from the play-club in that it was heavier and stiffer with the face sloped back slightly from perpendicular. It was used when the ball was in soft grass or on a downward slope or a hazard demanded a well elevated stroke. It raised the ball to a considerable height and a good distance.

Spoons were employed in a similar way to the grassed driver but did not send the ball as far. As their title suggests the face of the club has a great slope meant to raise the ball to any height required especially out of very difficult ground. Five different spoons were and included the long spoon, middle spoon, short spoon, baffing spoon, and the wooden niblick. All had their particular use based on the lie and distance from the hole. The first three are descriptive of their use. The baffing spoon got its name from the sound produced when it hit the ground when making the stroke. It was a very short distance club . The wooden niblick was a "long spoon" with a brass sole and smaller head. It was used to lift the ball out of a rut. The brass sole was an advantage on hard or stony ground.

Two putters were used for very different purposes. The green putter was used on the putting green when the ball was near the hole. This club was used up to a distance of 30 yards if the turf was smooth and level. The driving putter was used force a ball out of long grass or the "cheat the wind" by sending a low "skimming" ball.

Hybrid Golf Clubs and the Distance Gap

Hybrid Golf Clubs and the Distance Gap

Golf Clubs

Hybrid golf clubs have many, many benefits, but there is one problem that golfers switching over will face. That problem relates to the distance gap. What is the distance gap? How can the distance gap be avoided? Should the distance gap issue impact my decision to buy hybrid golf clubs?

One of the most immediate benefits I noticed right after I switched to a hybrid 3 and 4 related to increased distance. I normally would hit my 3-iron between 190-200 yards, that is when I could hit it at all. My 4-iron would be in the 180-190.

Now, that has changed with the hybrids. I hit my hybrid 3 between 200-220, I've even caught one that went 245. Of course that was a little downwind. I also hit the hybrid 4 190-200 max. I hit my regular 5 iron about 170-175 max. Hence the problem that many hybrid golf club owners face. What do I hit when I'm between 175 & 190 yards out?

Switching to the hybrid golf clubs caused a 15 yard gap in my game that I no longer have a full club to hit.

These are your options you have available to bridge that gap:

Better course management. This is probably the worst suggestion, but it's also the only option that won't cost you any money. You simply play your round with the conscious effort of not putting yourself in the gap range. For example, my gap is between 175-190. That means I don't leave myself with an approach shot in the range. I have to position my drives and layup shots better to give myself a full swing into the green. If I get in this gap zone, I either under-swing or over-swing. This option will likely cost you a stroke per round.

Buy a club to fill the gap. In my case, I just needed to buy a hybrid 5 to cancel out my 175-190 yard gap. This means that I carry a hybrid 5 for the 175-190 and a regular 5 for the 175 and below. This also means that I am 1 club over my 14 club limit. For me, it's a course by course decision and it all depends on the length of the course. If it's a short course, I'll leave out the regular 5 iron in favor of that extra wedge. If it is a long course, I'll pull a wedge in favor of both 5's. You have to figure out what works for you in that situation.

Buy a full hybrid and game improving set. Callaway, Cleveland, Adams and all the other major manufacturers are producing full sets now that have hybrid long irons and game improving short irons. These clubs are manufactured to eliminate the distance gap and give you a more normal distance progression.

For me, it is adding the extra club. I really like my scoring irons to be traditional. However, I have a friend that just bought the Cleveland HiBore's and he has knocked off about 8 strokes off his game. Again, that's golf for you. It's all about what you want and what you are comfortable with.

Slazenger Golf Club - An Evaluation

Slazenger Golf Club - An Evaluation

Golf Clubs

Slazenger is a reputable brand name for balls but eventually they have diversified to manufacturing golf clubs. They have swept the market by offering wide range of equipments with moderate pricing.

Slazenger golf clubs include the Big Ezee Iron which are heavy and come under the axe of the critics. But there are some staunch supporters who feel that the sturdy heavy iron helps create great distance and swing.

The range of putters offered in different price ranges from 0. They were tested and received with full appreciation. The game lovers who had the feel of the clubs refuted the criticism made by the competitors.

They have been designed to suit international standards but for some reason have failed to attract the professionals. They had a good feel and the quality was good. The hand grip and shape suited the comfort level of the player.

The pricing varies according to their ranges. The beginners are offered a good deal to choose from their different ranges. They suit every pocket without compromising on quality. The amateurs or the hobbyist can train themselves with the Slazenger golf club without draining their finances.

The reviews made by unethical people on the standard of the equipment stands as an obstacle in penetrating the professional market. Some players feel that this prejudice on the brand by the enthusiast should be cleansed.

The modest pricing of the brand has targeted the young enthusiast to get the feel of the game and get to the advanced level. The misconception that the set is of an inferior quality due to the low rating has brought about a down slide in the professional market.
